Zap - Quick Paper facts

1. The worlds first newspaper was German and was published in 1605

2. In the year 875 the Chinese invented toilet paper. 

3. Around 95% of the Paper in the world is made from wood cellulose.

4. The largest origami crane had a massive wingspan of 81.94 metres! It was made by the Peace Piece Project at the Japanese City of Hiroshima. 

5. The longest distance flown by an paper aircraft launched indoors was 69.14 metres.

6.   In most advertisements, including newspapers, the time displayed on the clock is 10 past 10 .

10. The worlds longest flight indoors is 27.6 seconds. This was achieved by Ken Blackburn in 1998.

11. The worlds most expensive toilet paper is the Renova coloured toilet paper. It costs over $ 10 and will brighten up you bathroom.

12. The oldest newspaper company that keeps publishing is the Swedish Ordinari Post Tijdender. This company was established in the year 1645.

13. Packaging makes up a third or more of our trash.

18. Around 3,000 years ago the Papyrus reed was the only plant used to make paper. Egypt had plenty of this and was the provider of paper for the entire world. Rome was so dependant on this that when there was a crop faliure, the whole Roman market came to a halt.
